the aftercare
In General
• Avoid any kind of intense physical activity, such as going to the gym, for a week.
• Avoid swimming pools, sun exposure, lakes, and the sea for 3 weeks.
On the same day:
• Keep the plastic wrap on the tattoo until bedtime.
• Remove the cling film before going to bed.
• Then wash the tattoo.
• It is better to wash the tattoo with lukewarm water (not too hot, not too cold).
• Wash the tattoo with soap (skin-friendly/fragrance free soap).
Step-by-step instructions for washing:
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Use soap to create lather on your hands.
Gently rub over the fresh tattoo until all excess ink and fluids are removed.
Then rinse the tattoo with lukewarm water to remove the soap.
Dab the tattoo with a paper towel.
Let it air dry for 20-30 minutes. Do not use cream!
Just before bedtime:
• Wash and dry the tattoo
• Wrap the tattoo in cling film.
• Go to sleep.
Wrap it in cling film also if you go out or want to sleep.
Day after the tattoo session & day 3:
• Wash the tattoo, as mentioned on the first day, 4 times a day.
• Once after waking up • Once before going to bed • Twice evenly spaced throughout the day.
As long as you stay in your house, try to let the tattoo breathe without using plastic wrap.
(Make sure to wear clean clothes and avoid any contact with dirt.)
If you need to do an activity where the tattoo might get dirty, wrap it in cling film.
Day 4 and for the next 2-3 weeks:
• You will still wash the tattoo 4 times daily, but instead of cling film, apply a small amount of aftercare cream to keep the tattoo moist and support the healing process.
• During the healing process, the tattoo will start to peel. Do not scratch or touch the tattoo during this time.
After the first few weeks, the tattoo may look healed, but the skin underneath is still healing, so it is very important to take extra care during the first month to ensure the tattoo looks good for the rest of your life.
After a month:
It is recommended to use sunscreen if you want to sunbathe or go to a tanning salon or any long sun exposure activity.
